"No money was lost- but this is a complaint to State Farm as a whole. But Sammie was our agent. I waited two years to post to avoid retaliation risk.
We had an unfortunate dealing with State Farm and this office with renters insurance when our former landlord sued for damage to the property (it was just normal wear and tear). but the landlord was trying to squeeze us.
It was a frivolous lawsuit, and fortunately we won by our own leg work on the matter. And the case was ultimately dismissed with prejudice. Meaning they can’t come back.
The financial protection from property damage was the exact reason I purchased insurance from State Farm, and being able to get help from the State Farm legal team. I was lead to believe that State Farm had legal assistance to its customers for things like this and when the spotlight moment arrived, and I needed help to defend myself from alleged property damage that I was potentially needing to foot the bill for, I was completely ignored by everyone from State Farm. From local staff to corporate office.
My wife and I subsequently decided to cut ties with State Farm, and will not be returning. Nor will I ever recommend the business to friends and family.
I consider myself fortunate I never had a full blow catastrophe like a house fire or something like that. I doubt I’d get help for that either.
Happy with farmers insurance. We’ve had them for two years now for home insurance and vehicle insurance for two nice trucks, and a side by side and an RV. Rates are reasonable. Never needed the coverage, but any time I need documentation or anything like that my local Farmers agent answers on the first ring. Need proof of insurance to get a side by side permit for the city? Or for the RV for this one weird RV park that requires it? He answered immediately and texted me screenshots of proof of coverage from his personal cell.
My advice- go with the little guy who’s a one man shop. Not the agent with a half dozen staff and you never work with the actual name on the front of the store."
